My name is Samantha Vredenburgh, Site Director of the William B. Ward School After School Program. I have been working with the Boys & Girls Club since 2015, starting out as a Volunteer and Youth Development Professional at the Remington Clubhouse Unit, working as a Counselor, Group Leader, and Summer Brain Gain Facilitator during Summer Camps at Mascaro Clubhouse, and have made my way to William B. Ward Elementary School as a Youth Development Professional, Assistant Director, and now as Unit Director (as of last December). In addition to my role as Director, I currently work with high school students as a Teaching Assistant. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Iona College and my Master's Degree in Counseling from Mercy College. I have a strong passion for working with children of all ages, assisting them in discovering their unique interests, and contributing to a comfortable environment to allow for positive social and academic growth. Our Youth Development Professional (YDP) staff, Assistant Director, and I will be working very hard to ensure that every child’s needs are addressed and create a sense of belonging for every child as part of the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle.
We run several Boys & Girls Club National programs at Ward Elementary including Art, Smart Girls, Drama Matters, STEM, LEGO club, Healthy Habits, and Torch Club. At Ward, the children have a serious passion for science. Our Site has the most participants in STEM where the children get to be inventive with their experiments and show case their interest in learning rigorous academic concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
This year Drama Matters plans on performing a play for all our members and STEM will be conducting a science fair! We have big plans for the 2018-2019 school year!
